Wine has been made at Montecalvi since the 1400s.
The estate was once part of Castello di Uzzano, and was farmed for centuries according to the mezzadria system where local farmers farmed the estate and shared the year’s harvest with the castello.
Montecalvi became an independent estate in the 1980s and is now under the stewardship of the Drake family, owners of Collalto in the Adelaide Hills region of Australia.
Montecalvi is an organic estate and everything that we do is with an eye towards sustainable farming in the vineyard and making wines and extra virgin olive oil that are a true reflection of place.
We make small quantities of hand-crafted wines, from our flagship Chianti Classico through to our storied VV, which is made from antique vines planted on dry stone terraces in 1932.

This is an in-depth wine tour and tasting for the wine lover seeking a unique look at winemaking.
The tour is held by Jacqueline Bolli, whose family previously owned Montecalvi, and who knows a thing or two about the place!
Jackie will tell you about our vineyards and how they have changed over the years and she will lead you through the cellar and explain how the producer and winemaker make their decisions.
You will then take a seat on our panoramic terrace or under our ancient loggia (depending on the weather), and Jackie will take you through a guided tasting of all of our (available) wines –our:
Vermentino,
the Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva,
our two Super Tuscans, the San Piero and the VV.
The wines will be accompanied by local antipasti and Montecalvi Extra Virgin Olive Oil. 
TASTING 2 – 1h 30min – € 25pp

This tour is ideal for experienced wine lovers and novices alike.
We will take you on a tour of our cellar and show you how our wines are made.
We will then give you a guided tasting of four of our wines:
Vermentino,
Chianti Classico,
our two Super Tuscans, the San Piero and the VV.
The wines will be served with local antipasti and Montecalvi Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Depending on the weather, the tasting will be on our panoramic terrace or under our ancient loggia.
TASTING 3 – € 10pp

This is a ‘drop-in any time’ chance to taste our wines while sitting at a table on our panoramic terrace or under our ancient loggia.
You will taste four of our wines: Vermentino, Chianti Classico, and our two Super Tuscans, the San Piero and the VV.
The tasting will be accompanied by taralli and Montecalvi Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
