Municipality of Montemurlo is located at an altitude of 73 m above sea level.

Being a municipality, local producers have sought the best positions for their vineyards to obtain grapes suitable for the production of wines in line with the high standards present in the province of Prato. The vineyards in the area are exposed to the sun and are cultivated in the most suggestive stretch of the Montemurlo countryside located in Bagnolo at the foot of Monte Ferrato, at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level. The climate in this low hill area is cool and well ventilated, offering a significant temperature range even during the summer.

Pinot Nero Villa di Bagnolo is a wine born somewhat by chance in 1975

when the Marquis Vittorio Pancrazi, wanting to replant the vineyards of his farm, came across an error by the nurseryman who supplied Pinot Nero vines instead of the traditional Sangiovese grown in those areas. Only after 14 years, thanks to the intervention of an oenologist, the error made by the nurseryman was discovered. This error turned out to be fortunate because the microclimate of Bagnolo turned out to be perfect for Pinot Noir. Thus was born a unique wine of its kind that brought the Tenuta di Bagnolo to be known and appreciated throughout the world.
