The wines of the Lucca Hills
They have a tradition that can be traced back to Roman times and the Middle Ages. According to some historians, it seems that even before the Romans, the hills of Lucca were cultivated by the Etruscans who lived in Lucca and then by the Ligurians, who were well versed in the art of viticulture and olive growing.
The area’s wealth is highlighted by documents dating back to before the year 1000, according to which “the slopes of the hills north of Lucca were covered in vineyards in the ninth century.”
THE WINES OF VERSILIA
The VersiliaIt is a beautiful place that, from the peaks of the Apuan Alps, descends in steep hills towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. A land famous for its long beaches and pine forests, but also for its excellent wines.
One of the most important characteristics of the wines of Versilia is the ability to perfectly blend local grape varieties with varieties of French origin.
Thanks also to the mild climate and the southern exposure and the presence of high peaks that protect the grapes from cold temperatures, they contribute to the creation of wines with a high sugar content and intense aromas.
