Sequerciani

Sequerciani was founded in 1992, in Maremma, when Ruedi Gerber, a Swiss film producer, decided to renovate the then abandoned Sequerciani estate.

Three years later, he began working the land using biodynamic methods, gradually transforming it into a farm, that now covers approximately 170 hectares (mostly wooded), including 15 hectares cultivated with vines.

Its unique location, on the gentle hills of Maremma, 25 minutes from the sea and at an altitude of about 250m above sea level, provides a light breeze that prevents the grapes from being damaged, and a clayey soil rich in galestro, ideal for the production of our natural wine.

Minor indigenous grape varieties – recently rediscovered – such as Pugnitello and Foglia Tonda, are ideal for this type of soil and climate. Other grape varieties cultivated at Sequerciani include Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Aleatico, and Vermentino.

In the cellar, winemaking is natural, without the use of chemicals or filtration, with spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, and aging – for the most part – in terracotta amphorae, all in a modern and controlled environment.

Sequerciani aims to amaze with an authentic and pure wine, capable of telling its own story… a true message in a bottle.

Ein Paradies in der Maremma. Anders kann ich das Sequerciani nicht beschreiben. Abseits des Tourismus ist die Entspannung gesichert. Gleichzeitig sind die prächtigen, toskanischen Städte gut zu erreichen. Auch die maremmanische Küche mit Ihren Kräutern und Aromen liegt vor der Tür. Z.B. in Tatti im Restaurant Il Barrino oder auch die vielen Lokalitäten in Roccatedderighi laden zum Schlemmen ein. Eine Weinprobe im Sequerciani und auch in anderen Weingütern kann ich ans Herz legen. Ein Urlaub ist zu jeder Jahreszeit ein Erlebnis. Im Sommer (Mai bis September) Strand und Pool, im Winterhalbjahr Kultur, Museen, Wanderungen – auch geführt im Naturschutzgebiet.
